Does DecisionVault have an Open API?
Firms can find the full documentation here: api.decisionvault.com
The documentation explains how authentication, automation, external identifiers, financial categories, pagination, and webhooks work, followed by the endpoint documentation. There is also an llms.txt on the docs site as a starting point for AI agents.
What you can do with the API
The API gives you read access to most of the information your firm collects in DecisionVault, plus endpoints to create matters and subscribe to events:
- Questionnaires: list your questionnaires or fetch a single one.
- Matters: list and fetch matters, and pull the clients, contacts, assets, documents, financial documents, questionnaire answers, roles, and meeting templates for a matter.
- Create matters: create a matter, or create a matter and invite the clients in one call.
- Events: fetch the events on your account, such as a questionnaire being started or submitted.
- Documents and users: fetch a single document or user by its ID.
- Financial categories: list the financial categories set up on your questionnaires.
- Webhooks: create and delete webhook subscriptions, so your system gets notified of events instead of polling.
Authentication
There are two ways to authenticate:
- API Key: for pulling your own firm's information into other tools. A firm admin can turn on the Developer API and create an API key from Settings > Integrations.
- OAuth2: for building an integration that any DecisionVault subscriber firm can connect to. A firm admin creates a Developer App under Settings > Integrations. New apps start out limited to admin users of your own firm; reach out to support to open it up to all subscriber firms.
