How to view matter reports
The Reporting section gives firms an overview of their activity over time. Go to Reports in the left-hand menu to find two reports: Matter Statistics, which shows charts by year, and Matter Net Asset Values, which you download as a CSV.
Matter Statistics
Click Generate next to the year you want to review. Each report shows visual summaries of your firm's data for that year, including:
- New matters per month: See how many new matters were opened each month, helping you track busy periods and growth trends.
- Matters per questionnaire: Understand which questionnaire types are being used most often.
- Marital status: Get a breakdown of the marital statuses of clients represented in your matters, such as Married, Single, Divorced, or Widowed. This helps identify trends across client demographics.

Client age and children (on planning type questionnaires) : View the distribution of client ages and whether they have children (adult, minor, or none).

Matter Net Asset Values
Click Download CSV next to the year you want. The file opens in Excel or Google Sheets, and each row is one matter with these columns:
- matter_id: the matter's ID number in DecisionVault
- internal_type: the questionnaire type, for example Probate or Estate Planning
- asset_count: the number of assets recorded on the matter
- net_value: the matter's net asset value
Note: For security, the report doesn't list client names. To open a matter, add its matter_id to the end of the matters address. For example, matter 6378 opens at https://app.decisionvault.com/matters/6378.

What does each yearly report include?

Can I filter or export the reports?
The Matter Net Asset Values report downloads as a CSV. Matter Statistics reports are shown as charts on screen only. More filters and export options are on the way, so reach out to support@decisionvault.com with ideas.
Why aren't client names in the Net Asset Values CSV?
For security, the report identifies each matter only by its matter ID, so the file is safer to share and store.
How do I open the matter for a row in the CSV?
Add the matter_id to the end of the matters address in DecisionVault. For example, matter 6378 opens at https://app.decisionvault.com/matters/6378
